Colosseum Guided Tour: An official Colosseum guide leads a 45-minute tour in English. Tours are offered at 9:30, 10:15, 11:00, 11:45, 12:30, 1:45, 3:00. Until October 30, an additional evening tour is offered at 4:15.

The Construction of the Colosseum was started under the emperor Vespavian and was completed by his son Titus in 80 A.D.

Originally named the amphitheatre of Flavio, it became known as the colosseum because of an enormous bronze statue of Nero which in the second century A.D. was placed near by the monument.
